Fern Harvey Sumner, 66, 415 S. Walnut St. died at Culver Hospital Wednesday afternoon at 3:45. Mr. Sumner was the son of Alfonso C. and Emma Harvey Sumner and was born on Sept 22, 1888 in Waynetown. Before he married Hollis A> Myers he traveled with the Cahautaqua Music Circuit as a musician and singer. He was also a member of the Sumner-Davis Quartet that travelled throughout the midwest. He moved his residence to Kokomo for several years and while there organized and directed the First Lion CLub State Band. Mr. Sumner returned to Waynetown and was a Past Master of the Waynetown msonic Lodge. For the past 23 years he has been located in Crawfordsville where he helped start and has since been associated with the Fern & Alec['s Barber Shop on West Main Street. He always followed the barber trade. Mr. Sumner was a member of the Crawfordsville First Christian Church and Montgomery County Masonic Lodge No 50. He graduated from Crawfordsville HS and attended the Arthur Jordan School of Music. Mr. Sumner was also recognized as a skillful chess player and was given high rating at a National Postal Chess Tourney. Surviving are the widow, Hollis; two sons, Jules and Don both of Chicago and three grandchildren, Julia Rae Sumner, Gale Loiuse Sumner and Eward Sumner all of Chicago. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bright Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Paul E. Million, pastor of the First Christian Church. BUrial will be mad in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.l
